As a researcher, educator and creative leader with over 25 years of extensive, practical interdisciplinary design and innovation expertise in Germany, Japan, Hong Kong and Canada, I am observing the rapid industry changes and the increasingly complex challenges that require new ways of responsive, investigative problem-solving through collaboration across multiple disciplines. In my role as design professional as well as university instructor, I see the fast rising gap between higher education and industry demands. The global omnipresent need for innovation and the needed ability of technology adaptation requires new frameworks for post gradual interdisciplinary design education. At Design Emergence I am excited to develop programs for our academy, to not just keep our own talent pool at the stage of the art, but to offer up-and re-skilling opportunities to our clients, partners and other industry professionals through our upcoming Design and Technology certificate program (DTC).
